L’Oscar is a new ultra chic hotel in London which opened over the summer. Named after the extravagant playwright Oscar Wilde, the design decadence fills a space formerly occupied by the UK Baptist church. Designer Jacques Garcia describes his inspiration from the playwright by incorporating Wilde’s peacock emblem and mixing unusual colors.

It is a delicate balance of getting the colors right without clashing or looking dated fairly quickly. In hospitality design at this level, you either capture the feeling or you don’t and here one would absolutely want to get lost in poetry while sipping Wilde’s signature ‘green fairy’ Absinthe.
